Bombing In Jakarta
The Government of Malaysia condemns in the strongest terms, the horrific inhuman terrorist bombing at JW Marriot and Ritz-Carlton hotels in Jakarta, Republic of Indonesia on 17 July 2009.
The Government of Malaysia is deeply shocked and saddened that the senseless act of violence, deliberately directed at civilian targets designed to inflict maximum human casualties, has claimed the lives of many innocent people besides injuring large number of others. It is our hope that the perpetrators of this heinous and despicable crime would be apprehended and brought to justice.
On behalf of the Government of Malaysia, I extend my deepest condolences to the Government of Republic of Indonesia and to the Indonesian people as well as the families of the victims. We are confident that the attempt to undermine peace and stability and to instill fear among innocent people will only strengthen the Government of Indonesia’s resolve and determination to eliminate the scourge of terrorism and bring peace and prosperity to the people of Indonesia. We also view this act as an attempt to undermine the vibrant democracy that exists in Indonesia.
We are confident President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and the Government of Indonesia will succeed in bringing the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice. In this connection Malaysia stands ready to work closely with Indonesia in our efforts to combat the threat of terrorism to our two nations and peoples.
Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak
