Prime Minister’s Radio Address On The Deception Of The Opposition’s Bersih Rallies
Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh,
My beloved Malaysians,
In a democracy, the party that wins an election is given a mandate for one term to serve the people and develop the country.
While the losing party must accept their loss and give way to the winning party to carry out their responsibilities.
However, the Opposition is entitled to criticise using the proper channels.
But in Malaysia, there is a different situation. The Opposition parties who lost at the last election are instead using a so-called independent NGO, under the guise of street demonstrations, to pressure the democratically-elected Government to step down before our term is over.
This NGO is a tool of the Opposition. From the second to the fifth rallies, the Opposition leaders led these street demonstrations.
During the second rally, they caused chaos in Kuala Lumpur, destroying police property.
In the third rally, they received orders from their leaders to breach police barriers, again causing chaos.
In the fourth rally, they tried to discredit the party that won the election, but called themselves non-partisan and independent.
Finally, in the upcoming fifth rally, they are advocating an Opposition leader who himself has been convicted of corruption, yet say they are championing the fight against corruption.
Their movement is deceitful. It is clear that these street protests are in fact the Opposition disguised as an independent NGO working to unseat a democratically-elected government.
The silent majority of people are fed up with the tactics of the Opposition. They just want the Government to deliver for them, and that is what my team and I will continue to do.
That is all from me.
Wassalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.
