The LRT line currently consists of two lines – Kelana Jaya Line and Ampang Line. In line with the Prime Minister Najib Razak’s call for a wider and extensive network of public transportation system, both the Kelana Jaya and Ampang lines underwent key extension projects which were completed in June 2016.
The LRT Extension projects will see the existing lines integrating with other existing and upcoming urban public transportation networks in Greater Kuala Lumpur, creating an efficient and reliable LRT network for the convenience of the commuters. Additionally, the LRT extension also encourages development of commercial and residential areas along the alignment as it provides convenient access to public transportation in the areas.
On 6 November 2015, the LRT 3 project – a new LRT line from Bandar Utama to Johan Setia, Klang was approved by the government, which will connect 2 million people along the Klang Valley Corridor by 2020 when completed.
