The Pan Borneo Highway was first announced as part of Barisan Nasional’s manifesto during the 13th General Elections and later formalised in Budget 2015 as Prime Minister Najib Razak’s administration move forward to realise this election promise.

One of the country’s most ambitious and biggest infrastructure projects, the Pan Borneo Highway will provide much-needed connection between the rural areas to the towns in Sabah and Sarawak.

The project will also see guaranteed participation of Sabah and Sarawak Bumiputera contractors in its construction with its Bumiputera Participation Programme.

With the Pan Borneo Highway, Malaysians in Sabah and Sarawak will be able to enjoy a safer and more comfortable journey across and within the two states, costs of transportation will also be lower and it will bring development and economic opportunities to the areas connected by and along the highway, which will immensely benefit the local communities especially in the rural areas.
