BARISAN NASIONAL’S MANIFESTO:
No citizen has been neglected nor have they gone without government support on the basis of being impoverished. As many as 7 million people have received support through 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M), even though a portion of them do not live in poverty.
Improving BR1M by making disbursement conditional on recipients’ behaviour, for
example, the recipient’s involvement in skills training and ensuring that their children receive
immunisation.
Providing a one-off assistance of RM1,500 for the children of BR1M recipients that enrol in higher education institutes.
Households earning an income of under RM3,000 a month will have their BR1M payments doubled from RM400 to RM800, to be disbursed in June and August 2018, which increases the total payout from RM1,200 to RM2,000.
Households earning between RM3,000 and RM4,000 will receive RM600 instead of RM300, to be disbursed in June and August 2018, which increases the total payout from RM900 to RM1,500.
Those who are single and earning less than RM2,000, and received RM450 in BR1M payment in February, will receive an additional RM150 that will be disbursed in June 2018, which increases the total payout from RM450 to RM600.
Households earning between RM4,000 and RM5,000 will receive RM700 which will be in two installments – RM350 in June and another RM350 in August 2018.
